The main cities of EMILIA-ROMAGNA

The major cities and towns of Emilia Romagna start off with the regional capital of Bologna. There are nine provinces in Emilia Romagna with Bologna also being capital of the Metropolitan City of Bologna province. Aside from the Forlì Cesena province which is named after those two cities, there are seven further provinces which take the name of an individual city.  Some of the greatest and most historic cities in Italy can be found in Emilia Romagna, including the likes of Ravenna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Piacenza and Reggio Emilia. One of the oldest cities is Rimini which is nowadays most famous as a seaside resort.

Away from the provincial capitals there are a further half a dozen or so major towns in the region including Faenza, Sassuolo and Fidenza, while of particular interest in terms of tourism are Carpi with its huge Piazza dei Martiri, Imola with its Rocca Sforzesca castle and Maranello which is home to the Ferrari Formula One team and Ferrari museum.
